Solomon Oziakpono IKÍBȨ́ is a Professor of Theatrical Musicology/Ethnomusicology in the Department of the Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Ilorin (2008). He was Departmental Post-Graduate Coordinator (2012 – 2014) and Head of the Performing Arts Department (2014 – 2016; 2019 – 2022). His current research is in Theatrical Musicology and sound pollution. He has successfully supervised 3 Ph.Ds and 13 MAs. He is currently supervising 8 Ph.Ds. He was appointed a Full Professor in 2017 and delivered his Inaugural Lecture in 2021. He has taught full-time for over 35 years – 13 years+ at Federal College of Education, Okene (1988 – 2001) and 22 years+ at the University of Ilorin 2001 till date. He has also served as an External Examiner/Assessor to some higher institutions on Doctoral Dissertations/Thesis and Master of Arts Theses and Professorial assessments.
